So I have a 1TB WD Elements HDD (USB 3.0) that I bought a few days ago in order to replace my old 500GB dying one. While it works great on PC, the Wii doesn't seem to detect it. In CFG USB Loader, the screen displays, when loading, "ERROR: INVALID NTFS1 Partition"; and Uloader and WiiMC act like if there's no USB connected.
I tried to format it on NTFS (32kb cluster) and WBFS but nothing works (I haven't tried FAT32 yet because I don't know if most apps, like USB Loaders will work well using FAT32 instead of NTFS, besides that I don't know if FAT32 works well with 1TB HDDs neither). Media files, backups, etc, are OK too, since I just copied them from my old HDD to this newer one, so it's not probable that that's the actual problem.

Any help is appreaciated, thanks.

FAT32 on an MBR drive is the most compatible. Everything works with that.
Thanks for answering, gonna do that and see what I get.

EDIT: Just did it now and it works! The actual problem was that my HDD was on a GPT instead of a MBR disk, as you said, so I just converted it and it works pretty well. Just as a note, FAT32 only supports file sizes up to 4.5 GB, so I had to format it to NTFS after making the change I told before.

And one last thing, do you know any kind of preventive measures that I need to apply when using my HDD, to prevent it from not working properly in the future (or at least, extending its life time)? Like for example, leaving the HDD connected to the Wii, even though you're not using it? My old HDD lasted around 3 years (I thought it could last more) and most of the time I had it connected to the console by default, before it eventually became really slow.

least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling

They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great

so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?

I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and nvidia is already doing ARM
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think they want to take more focus away from their gpus
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah I think Nvidia s future lays in AI GPU acceleration stuff if they can get that going it's going to be super interesting in the long term

AI assisted game creation might become a thing
