My Wii used to be able to detect my 1tb WD External drive pretty easily. However a few days ago when I tried to use it again it did not work. I was trying my best to troubleshoot the issue. SD Cards works fine, it detects them immediately. I tried a different HDD and it doesn't not work.

Now when I plug the hard drive to the Wii (I am not 100% sure which is the best port since I am using mine vertically), there is a light indicator that means it's powered on, but it isn't blinking. This makes me think it might be an internal error with the USB port itself. Mind you I am not 100% sure which one is the better to use but neither works. If it isn't a hardware issue, maybe one of you guys know what I can do.

Either way, I appreciate the help!

Since you Wii is standing up, it's going to be the left port.
If it was laying down, it would be the bottom.

So, if you're already using the correct port, let me know and we'll dig deeper.

Edit: and while we're here, might as well have you run a syscheck as well

By left you mean the one closer to the center? Because that's what I used.

Also when I go to the HBC and choose USB Drive it gives me an "Exception (DSI) occurred!" error.

I think this might mean I need a different Wii.

Sorry, when its vertical I always forget to explain it better lol.

The one closest to the edge.
If you're looking from the front of the Wii, it's the left port.

Ok, I did that but still nothing. I even plugged in my Wii U and tested the Wii mode since it used to work there too and nothing as well. I am not sure if it's maybe something wrong with my HDD itself.

Hmm. Run a syscheck for me, posted a few comments up.

Does the drive work on your PC?
What format is it? (FAT32, NTFS, WBFS)
MBR or GPT?

1. Yes, my PC can read the drive well.
2. It is completely FAT32, no partitions
3. I am not sure how to check that, and if so, what should it be?

Add me on discord so we can chat a bit easier
(I would DM a link but you don't have 10 posts yet)

(and in the case you don't/can't use discord)
type "disk management" into the windows search bar

click the option that says "create and format hard disk partitions" (might say something slightly different, going off memory)

on the BOTTOM section, find your disk

right click where it says "Disk 1" (don't right click the name of the drive)

you'll either see "convert to MBR" or "convert to GPT"

you want it to be MBR
