Wii disc dumper - v1.0 by nitrotux
----------------------------------

This is the first Wii-mode disc dumper (source included) that dumps to the Wii's front-SD. A SD gecko is not required at all.

First install the ios5.wad using WAD manager.

WARNING: Installing WAD files is dangerous and might permanently brick your Wii. Only do this if you know what you are doing.
I take no responsibility if you brick your Wii.

Then simply run the wiidumpsd.dol file and start dumping to SD.

For single-layer Wii discs, simply dump the 3 parts to SD, and merge them into a single .iso file.

> copy /b 0.bin + 1.bin + 2.bin wii.iso

For dual-layer Wii discs, the dumper can support it, you just have to add more offset/size part pairs to the sourcecode and recompile it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sounds risky with the IOS business, doesnt the wii have all IOS versions already? Is it a cracked version?
And, have you tested it?

Working Fine over here.

Need to make an icon for it and we can throw it up as a package to load into HBC.

Word of warning here. It dumps it into 3 parts.

Now im no mathmatician, but that means we are looking at 1.50gb (at most) of space taken up in each dump. So, make sure you have 1.5gb free on the sd card you are going to use.

Nitrotux, what are you using to merge the 3 .bin's?

Impressive reverse engineering. It would be nice for you to also include some background information, tho: Which IOS did you take and remove the unencrypted read restriction from?

Also, just for the record: Please note that you are distributing copyrighted content.

So all it does is dump a Wii disc to the SD card and transfer it to the computer?

correct. it dumps it to the front SD. Now, my wii is already modded with a wiikey, so i was sure the method of getting past the encryption was already completed within the chip.

Has anyone with an umodded wii tried this yet? And while we are at it, try a copied game when IOS5 has been installed.

1 % of copying takes 1minute.

When you load the app, it will show as the following

Wii disc dumper v1.0 - nitrotux
Hit A to dump part 0 to SD
Hit 1 to dump part 1 to SD
Hit 2 to dump part 2 to SD

When you either hit A, 1, or 2 it will start like this:

Initializing libfat...
Initializing DVD...
Id-6 hid-5
Disc ID: R4QP01
- This is obviously specifc to each game. In this case, im trying Mario Strikers Charged Football.
Writing file /0.bin to SD
10% / 42816000 / 42816000 / 3932160000 - Again, these will change as the game is copied over.

Only noticed there that when the percentage reached 10%, it then changed to 1%. Looks like its still writing it across tho. Just a minor bug by the looks of it.

There is still some things to improve :

- For now, the parts are size fixed and if we only have a 256MB SD Card we won't be able to dump the disc. It would be great that the tool keep dumping the disc until the SD Card is full
- And Dual layer support without modifying the source would be great too

imagine if it could scrub as it dumped. keeping to the restraints of a nonhc 2gb sd for a full dump would be possible for many games

Source code is fully included, you can add features yourself if you want:

- scrubbing
- dual layer dumping
- dumping via wifi instead of SD
- etc etc

Also, yes there is a problem with the percentage display, it does some weird jumps.
I didn't fix it since it wasn't that big of a problem, the dump is still good.

I tested some games with the latest wii system menu (the one just before the 3.3 system update) with IOS5 installed, and there are no problems.

As for background information about the IOS, simple answer: no

.
You can easily find that out yourself if you want.

I won't be maintaining this tool, so that is why source code is included.

So you expect people "adding features if they want" to guess the effects of your IOS modification(s)?
