Gaming Wii Console 3.2j update and Wiikey 1.9s

Hi all, is it still advisable to update to 3.2j via the Internet? I'm getting a wireless router soon and I want to make sure that it's not going to cause any major problems. What about wiikey 1.9s? Actually what I'm concern is whether a Mario Kart PAL will work properly without all these updates. Cheers!

i have my wii updated from Super Smash Bros (JPN version)
so my Wii firmware is 3.1j (2nd revision)

My Wiikey is on 1.9g firmware
setup for 3x read - and multi-region

I have a backup of my original Mario Kart Wii

I brickblocked it with brickblocker1.3R
thats all i did to the iso

Trucha does NOT open the iso

I did NOT install the mario kart channel

I burnt the disc with imgburn
single layer Sony branded DVD-R at 16x
and it works great!

it is not worth updating the wii firmware unless you
want to play wiiware titles.

the mariokart channel doesn't work without the update
but all the internet features are still accessible via the
in-game menu

i'll wait til 1.9s actually is confirmed to not have any issues
til i update - none so far - but it's worth waiting...

Thanks for the reply mate. Right, I'll get the SSBB to make it 3.1j then. The safest bet for now I reckon.

I've heard about trucha not working on Mario Kart, but I saw another post stating how they got around this problem by substituting the 2nd partition into another PAL game which allows modification via trucha. Gonna have a go at it once I update to 3.1j.

I have another question though, what's a Wiiware? Am I supposed to have it or do I get it only after linking to the net?

And when you say Mario Kart channel, do you mean a separate channel on the wii menu just for Mario Kart? I've been seeing others having a separate channel for each game on their wii menu from youtube. Don't really get it, probably cause mine's a jpn console. Cheers.

Managed to update my system to 3.1j via SSBB-J. Mario Kart is working well too! woo hooo!!!

I have Super Mario Galaxy Jap but it only updated my console to 3.1j. I'll have a look at Mario Kart then. Cheers!

I would but the 50 over games that I currently have now would go to waste.

get on 3.2 menu and install starfall patches, it will stop asking to update from wii discs

Starfall can only be installed on E or U consoles. Doesn't work on Jap consoles I'm afraid.

Just realized that SMG, SSBB and MKW all do not have the 3.2j update. Anyway managed to find the proper one from this website.

I also found out while I was on 3.1j and 1.9g, I could play all games. After I upgraded to 1.9s, certain newer games could not be played. But this problem was solved after upgraded to 3.2j.
