Alright so my brother was screwing around with my Wii as always and he messed something up. The Wii simply boots to a black screen, no audio or anything. In fact if it wasn't for the green and red lights you wouldn't be able to tell ANY difference between the 2 states of On and Off.
What i believe he has done is something i was showing him how to do, but he did it wrong. He extracted the updates from an update. He got this update with Wii Update Manager. It was the ORIGINAL firmware, or i guess as close to it as anyone can get. He then proceed to take a Wii ISO and inject the update to the Update partition on the disc (like he has seen me do) then extract them with another program so they were .wad files. Now this is where he gets a little fuzzy in his memory but i BELIEVE he was trying to get his wii back to "stock" or "original" condition by using WAD manager to "uninstall" the Photo Channel, Mii Channel, ect ect, everything that was on the wii at launch. After i looked through these files myself it looks like he uninstalled boot2 (thats what the WAD was called). Whatever he did it simply boots to a black screen now. So i obviously would like to fix this.
I Doubt SaveMii would help considering it doesn't boot to an IOS (it seems). So im left with 2 options that i personally know of.
1. Find the keys specific to this console, find a clean decrypted filesystem, reencrypt the FS with those keys and reflash to NAND.... But thats to much work. (And it would be impossible considering i dont know how)
2. Replace the motherboard.
My question is, unless there is a way to fix the current board, cant i just replace this one with a different one and hook everything back up to it (DVD WIFI, ect ect) and it work for me?
as far as i know nothing off of the mainboard is encrypted to that board correct?
If anyone could help me i would appreciate it.
And if anyone knows where to buy just a working Wii motherboard, i would like that info as well.
Thanx in advance
