I have created iso files from my own games using CleanRip, and then used Wii Backup Manager to convert them to WBFS for use in WiiFlow Lite from my SD card. The problem is that when I try to play them, I get the white loading bar at the bottom and then just a black screen, no matter which cIOS I force in WiiFlow. This happens with every Wii game I have created a WBFS from.

As a check, I downloaded two WBFS files from a popular site, and those load up no problem in WiiFlow from my SD card. The WBFS files I downloaded are about 30% smaller than the WBFS files I made in Backup Manager for the same games. So I think perhaps I'm not converting the iso files correctly.

I'm using the most recent version of Wii Backup Manager I could find (Build 78), and am using the default settings. I add the folder with the isos, select the ones to convert, and press Transfer WBFS. Then I copy those onto my SD card and reload the cache in WiiFlow to access them. Is there anything obvious I'm doing wrong, or any settings to check? I thought I remember reading about WBM corrupting headers, and to just avoid changing any settings in the program.

never had a problem with wii backup manager. maybe try another iso (downloaded) instead of download wbfs files to rule out clean rip. here are my options:

btw, clean rip iirc is supposed to use ios 58, which should be displayed at the top. it's been over a decade since I've used it though. I did it for my gamecube games, and all worked.

Thanks for the reply, godreborn. I am using the same settings as you in WBM, so I'll check with a downloaded ISO. I do remember IOS58 displayed at the top during my ripping. Maybe I can compare the checksums on my ISO files with the GC and Wii database files I have too.

So I created a WBFS file from an ISO I downloaded online, and the file did work correctly. So now I'm thinking that there is something wrong with the ISOs I created using CleanRip. I guess I didn't expect that because I used Redump checksum verification after each disc, and it always came back okay.

Is it necessary to combine the ISO parts into one file before converting to WBFS? Or anything else I should have done in between copying the CleanRip ISO files to my computer, and converting to WBFS using Backup Manager?

if the isos are split, try using the copy /b command. it's copy /b iso.part_1 + iso.part_2 iso

the iso parts 1 and 2 and the last iso will be whatever the parts are named and the last iso is what you want to name the complete iso. try that with wbfs. I'm thinking split isos are causing a problem.

That's exactly what it was! I used Command Prompt to combine the ISO files together, then used WBM to remake the WBFS files from the combined ISOs, and they're all working so far! Thanks so much for your help, godreborn! I'm stoked that we figured this out and I don't have to rerip my discs!
