I used to hang around the scene and was updated all the time as the scene went along, but then I kinda left and came back after a couple months. Does anyone know how to detect what is old and get it updated in a simple fashion?

If you're on 4.2, you're basically fine. If you'd like to make sure you're up to date with everything, follow a guide in the stickies. ModMii should work very well for you.

What is the function of ModMii?

Does it check for what is needed to be updated (from within the Wii)?
And does it find updates for applications too and if it doesn't what does?

Basically, it is a program that downloads you anything from the latest IOS updates to homebrew applications and modifications. There's a function within that allows you to 're-hack' your Wii (or simply hack it), and the process will overwrite any old things with the latest hacks, and include a tutorial on how to install everything as well.

No. ModMii is a computer-based application; it doesn't run on the Wii itself. You download the files, and get them all on the SD card, and update your Wii following the tutorial it generates.

Use BootMii to back up your NAND.

Ooooh :\ if such a thing was created for the wii that would've been great but sincerely a computer application like that is beyond amazing too.

On topic: So just google it up? or where is it located?

EDIT: Stupid question lol...kk found it Stickied at the very top.
