How long does it take for games to reach Japan?

Those who are surprised by how long this took to surface in Japan should probably bear the following in mind -
    1. Activision does not publish their games in Japan themselves, hence why games like Call of Duty are published and localised by Square Enix over there.
    2. FPS games are not a huge market in Japan, either, only really appealing to the niche markets of "hardcore" gamers (I hate that phrase so much) and otaku.
    3. Localisation takes time. I don't know if Nintendo of Japan bothered dubbing this game (most western games appealing to niche markets don't get Japanese dubs); but there's certainly the time spent translating all of the in-game text in to Japanese to take into account.
    4. Licensing. Going back to point 1; Nintendo had to acquire the Japanese publishing and localisation rights to this game from Activision; which, as you'd expect, takes up a large chunk of time, too.

That and, well, 8 or 9 months (I forget when Goldeneye was released in the US and EU, sadly) to get both the legal side of things and the actual localisation sorted out isn't that long in the grand scheme of things.

    Why would you care?
Same thing the other way for other games.

Besides, this game just got dumped.
Dump date =/= Release date !!
Maybe it was released months ago in Japan and only now somebody cared to dump it [IMG]
Fantastic game by the way, I usually don't replay games, but for this I'll do an exception !

NFO says the release date was yesterday (6/28).

It is a great game though, it's not like the original Goldeneye but that's not bad at all. I personally prefer this one over the original (and both over Perfect Dark XBLA).

Now to wait for the Japan-exclusive You Only Live Twice game.

EDIT: It's also a western FPS game based on western media. I'm surprised it got a Japanese release at all.
