They should have released a Kingdom Hearts Wii or something like that. But I guess, Mario on the cover sells better than everything else on the Wii...
I don't think we need another Kingdom Hearts title so soon, unless it's 3 that is.

Ahh, so what I understand is that if you have Wii Sports, Resort, Mario Kart etc... Mario Sports Mix isn't worth it really. Well that's a bummer. Someone needs to light a fire under Nintendo's development team. Seem like they just copy & pasted the Mario franchise in without making it unique...

This game was developed by Square Enix, not Nintendo. Actually, other than Mario Kart, I don't think Nintendo's developed any other Mario sports title:

Mario Golf Series- Camelot
Mario 3-on-3 / Sports Mix - Square Enix
Mario Tennis Series- Camelot
Mario Baseball Series - Namco/Namco Bandai
Mario Strikers Series - Next Level Games
Mario Party Series - Hudson Soft
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Series - SEGA/SEGA Sports
Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix - Konami

So yeah...

The game is decent amounts of fun with 4 people. I'm a bit saddened by the fact that none of the included games are as thawed out as they could be - either they should've made this game a blow out and added a bunch more sports, or they should've focused on one, like the other developers. It's fun, bu the potential for something greater is so evident. It looks great, and it sounds nice as well, but I would've much rather preferred a sequel to 3-on-3 done right than what Square gave us here.
Well, my understanding is that nothing really makes this a Mario title other than Mario is in it. You can replace Mario here with any other generic character really. But I do stand corrected on where to light the fire. Someone should light a fire under whoever is in QC control of Nintendo's trademarked franchises.

EDIT: I see that usenet has picked things up a bit. a.b.n.w

Yeah, it could be a generic title, if not for the items, characters, music, backgrounds, etc. It's not an awful game - it's just not one that's worth $50 in my opinion, unless you're really, really into party games. It would've been cool if they would've left Mario out altogether and just did a Square one. Or a Square one with Mario cameo characters.

However, if this deal puts us one step closer to a SMRPG sequel, or some kind of full story Square Enix x Nintendo story game, I'm all for it. Plus, it is fun with friends in quick sittings.

i find it fun, I have the PAL version, but my three biggest things are, its way too easy, even on hard. Unlocking is a pain in the ***. alternate routes make you choose unlockables, meaning, you have to play the same cup over & over again. alternate routes are also random, so you can beat a cup, without getting an alt route, thus, wasting a good half hour or more. and three, wi-fi is bad from what i have played. stay far away from 1,2, & 3 connections, you want 4/4 only. very laggy. plus random is region locked, which is lame, consider on the cover, it says other wise..

overall it is fun, but not worth $50, maybe $40 at max. $30+ seems more appropriate

This could have been a great game, but it isn't. Sport games based arround Mario have always played very well up until now. The carachters feel as if they are robots, feather light and made out of paper. Wich is a bad thing really! Mario sportmix could have been one of the best games the Wii has to offer, but it turned out to be a huge dissapointment.

To each his own, I guess. I really liked this one, specially how the gameplay works. It's simple, addicting and fun. The only thing I absolutely HATE is that it's a pain to unlock the characters, I really want to play with Vivi, Moogle and Slime but the secret paths things is a pain and I think it's not worth the time to unlock every character several times to have it available on every sport.

This game was built on roughly the same premise of Square's Mario Hoops.

This game is decent, and fun with friends.. like all multiplayer games.

Get Camelot to make us a new Mario Tennis already
