This would be so much better if they remade the graphics or something.
Another way for big N to try earning easy money...
Personally, the only reason I'd ever actually go buy this is just for collection purposes :/
Well, that's what Ninty thinks too....
Just remember it comes with a CD containing music from SMB to SMG2 and a 25th anniversairy Mario booklet. Although, someone will probably rip the music and put a PDF of the booklet and all of the music on the internet somewhere.
Oh, well. I'm still going to get it Christmas day. It's a collector's item so you can only really get it once, anyway.
I'm still happy it came out!
Super Mario Bros. to the rescue (again)!
How much is this scrubbed?
13.31 MB (13,954,390 bytes)
Yeah haha. I believe Nintendo could have done better than just packing some old Mario games into a Wii ISO and call it good.
not even the mario world edition of allstars, how sad
I was disappointed with that too :/
I got it 2 weeks ago, I LIKE it as the hell. Stop whining about it, since it is Mario! Lets a go!
Yeah, it's nice that they actually released it over here and with all the extras intact.
Still, though, they couldn't have at least included Super Mario World? The SMAS SMW was actually the best one since Luigi had his own sprites. (I used to start 2P mode and just kill Mario in order to play as the new Luigi.)
But I suppose it was so as not to endanger the sales of the VC version. You would think this collection would also endanger the four NES games on VC, but the combined (US) total of all four Super Mario Bros. games on VC is 2100 points, or $21 USD. You would have to buy a minimum of $25 worth of points in order to get them, so in reality, at least compared to the VC prices, this collection's price ain't half bad considering what you get with it as extras.
This game have 2 advantages:
1 - Deleting SMB, SMB2 e SMB3 (VC channels) you save some blocks from your wii system memory (few blocks, but you save it )
2 - You can play with wiimote and can let your GC controller rest a little...
Besides that... I see no good reason for buy it...
At least its $30 where as Wii games here usually cost $50
Think you're buying the CD, the book and etc. The problem is they can sell all this without Super Mario Collection.
I'm sure if Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Other M boost the Wii sales, we don't see this.
The rom on the disc is LZH8 compressed, as well as a sample file containing the samples. Use an LZH8 decompressor and decompress both files and you get the 2MB rom and 183k sample file. It's in the /files/content5 directory. I used lzh8_cmpdec07. I wonder if you can patch the sample file to the rom and get a snes emu to play it. Maybe snes emu's will support the sample file in the future?
To date, are any snes or nes VC games emulated this way?
What a waste....I've already owned all these games on 3 different formats (NES individual games, SNES SMB all stars & VC individual games) There is NO WAY I'm paying for the same game 4 times...It's just not happening!! They could have at least added some extra in-game content, maybe touched up the graphics a little....I feel like they just got lazy. This is how they thank us loyal ninty fanboys for 25 years of dedication?!?!?!?! Boo, Ninty!!!
