is there a campaign for this or is it all free play?
shaunj, disaster is missing
I have the JPN version, but once No More Heroes is done downloading I'll try this, it should be fun...
Is it pre-scrubbed? Cause the Japan one was...
Japanese releases are all scrubbed.. western ones aren't.. shouldn't take long for someone to scrub it..
Just because everyone noticed its a 460~MB game from the japanese release, I've gotta ask :
What exactly is the problem with scrubbed releases ? they work after all , and are better for the environment (all the computers would save 90% of the time downloading wii-music : less electricity )
Sorry for the noobish question.
because scrubbed games exploit a vulnerability in the firmware to run - they're not guaranteed to work as long as, say, a 1:1 copy used with a modchip.
Plus, the scene is filled with obsessive quality control.
You mean.. why are they nuked!?
AFAIK Nintendo could come up with a patch at any moment and make scrubbed releases stop working.. so they would have to be nuked. Till now, nothing was done, and I don't think it will..
thanks for the quick answer.
so this whole scrubbed thing might be blocked by a firmware upgrade ? causing all japanese releases not to work ?
just sounds funny that the japs are using it for 100% of their releases.
Dack is not here, otherwise he would tell you that you're wrong. So I'm doing that in his place
Scrubbed releases ARE NOT Trucha Signed. So they don't use ANY vulnerabilities in the firmware.
The only way to block Scrubbed releases would be implementing a check for 00s (I'm not entirely sure if it replaces the garbage data with 00s or FFs, but nevermind, we'll just continue to use that ) in the Game Discs. But they can't do that, seeing that some games out there come with 00s already in them (the only examples which come to mind of this would be Puzzle Quest). So they won't break compatibility and risk being sued only because of a few scrubbed games.
Why the scene won't adopt scrubbed releases? We won't ever know. PS2 scene uses them. The GC scene used them. There were no objections on quality back then, strange, uh? And even if the problem is all about preservation, you could easily revert them with an included patch.
So there's not really a reason to not do it. The Scene decided it this way, and it seems things won't change soon.
Oh well, here ends this off-topic. Sorry 'bout it.
man , some interesting stuff you wrote there... thanks a bunch
anyway, since wii music is crap anyway, dont mind the off-topic
so i heard the game won't run with 3.2 firmware (black screen if you skip update) and i don't want to bother with gecko-os or upgrade (skipped all the update trough freeloader...) should i pass or is there any way to use gecko-os without bothering with the WAD installer and the stuff like that?
Apparently the game has a 3.3U update..
I have a D2CKey and don't really use homebrew.. what harm could I get by updating the firmware?
For the current status of homebrew and firmware versions, always check here:
I can play the JPN version and I have 3.2+Starfall. I hope it the same.
I just need to figure out how to unlock songs in the JPN version.
...Is this game worht getting? Just to ask.
as "most overrated game of the year"
I'm absolutely not interested in this game, not one bit.
Actually, except for maybe Nintendo themselves.. I saw no one overrating this game..
yes i mean Nintendo, since E3 it's all about Wii Music, that's just embarrassing
does it work without installing IOS37? Sure as hell I will not permit an IOS30/31 update, but it would be nice if I could keep the rest of my system clean, as well.
