Those pics remind me of Dragon Ball a bit. Is it just me, or do the rod and cloud of that main character use nearly the same colors as Advanced Adventure?

That's because the main background story of Dragon Ball borrowed heavily from Xi You Ji, or Journey to the West.
Even their names are the same - Son Goku, the translation of the Chinese Sun Wu Kong.

Looks like a cool game though, I'll have to pick it up if it's available in the area!

The original arcade game was also ported on the Sega master system, and I think also on the PC Engine, it was pretty rubbish though imo
