Why you need to beg mods to change your username?

I don't want to change my username right now, but like, isn't it easier to just have it as an option?

I think that would end in complete Chaos...
Nobody will be longer knows each other,if People changing their Names constantly....
also for the Moderators and Administrators it would be very confusing too..

I mean, I don't know any other forum where changing username is allowed at all. Some people here have changed their username 2 or 3 times and really, what's the point? They're still the same person behind the keyboard.

Facebook and Google also kinda limit how often you can change your name on their services; Facebook, I believe, prevents you from changing it again for three months or so. Google only allows you to do it a certain number of times before you're permanently stuck.

Not that uncommon, really.

We can see name changes for obvious reasons.

You'll have to have a solid reason for a name change or fall under certain criteria like <x amount of posts/newly registered account.
Exceptions can be made.
