PS1/2 Why were there a * next to my username?

Hi guys. Some minutes ago there were a * next to my and my brothers usernames on the PS3, why is this?
The PSN info wasn't there either, it said that you needed to register again. But when we changed the usernames to original and pressed "existing account" after pressing "register to PSN" and logged in it worked. Anyone have a clue how this could have happened?

Could it be because of that we download themes to the PS3 from the internet(not PSNStore)?

I'm very sorry if it's hard to understand. I can't really think clearly.

EDIT: Please note that there was a * next to the accounts on the PS3 on the far left of the XMB not the PSN username.
EDIT2: It's a 40GB PAL Console, purchased in April-May 08

Ok, then that is no option anymore. Anyone else know why this could have happened?

Maybe Sony found out you were using roids to strengthen your gameplay abilities, so they starred your name.

Anyways this hasn't happened again. So I think it was just a random glitch or something.

Actually, this happened to me when I switched PS3's. For sum reason I have an asterisk on my name.

It was annoying at first but I've gotten used to it now.
It's been there for a couple weeks now.
