Why is it so easy to get onto people's bad side on the Internet?

People are generally assholes thats why ...

You don't see peoples faces so its hard to understand jokes at times especially when you are talking with people whose main language isn't english which is usually used online.

Also because of .... (I have no idea) everyone initially thinks you are beeing rude to them even if you just say "hello" .... this even happened to me in real life where people were like "why the hell are you talking to me, fuck off"

I often notice especially on facebook where everything is super random when people are giving comments and you comment their comment no matter if positive or negative they are like "why are you commenting me, you should not care" like why do they even post online to a global community when they don't want anyone to answer it ?

The Greater Internet Fuckwad theory always holds true:

But the question as it is phrased isn't asking why people are (more likely to be) dicks online, but why are we more likely to write people off on the internet for even the slightest... slights. And we are. Same principle really. They are far away, they are anonymous, and they are strangers. 99% of the time the interactions are superficial, the stakes are non-existant, relationships are inconsequential, and we employ zero consideration or work into understanding or reconciliation. All the "don't stereotype" or "don't judge a book by its covers" stuff is out the window, there is too many anonymous randos on the internet with only a few sentences representing them to us, and we don't take time or effort to dig deeper, we dump them into a category and write them off based on one sentence alone. Rinse and repeat.

So we have people acting as dickwads on one end and people judging at the drop of a hat, it's very easy to put your foot down wrong, and very hard to reconcile.

Backfire Effect.

Ppl attach themselves to things they like.
Then, if s.o. says something bad against these things, they feel threatened

Mending ?
If they are stonewalling, good luck...
It is faaar too easy to "ignore" or "block" ppl (I dislike either).

So yeah.
Irl ppl > internet ppl
