Why is it so difficult to get emulators running fullspeed on the Wii U?

This is not a complaint post, I just need to be educated here.

Platforms such as the IPHONE 4, yes a 2010 smartphone can emulate many PSX games near perfectly using retroarch. So if a 2010 phone can emulate so well, why can't a 2012 console?

And on that note, why the hell can PS3 not emulate n64? What is so good about the iphone 4's architecture that allows it so surpass a console 25 times heavier than it (that has to plug into the mains so doesn't even have a battery).

You have the answer in your question... architecture. PPC (Wiiu) and Cell (PS3) are not common and require a loooot of work and motivation to have acceleration (Dynarec).

I would say another factor is the sheer volume of the iOS scene, it is massive compared to that of the Wii U. iOS devices have sold in the hundreds of millions and the scene is just huge, probably one of the largest (if not THE largest) hacking communities of any device ever so when you have say tens of thousands of people churning out work vs a couple dozen at most then you are going to see a lot more and a lot better software.

    different architectures needs different optimizations
