but really tho with all the updates/patches Nintendo is doing to try and screw you out of homebrew/cfw(?) atm (you know so hopefully you are unhacked for the biggest electronic sales session of the year and therefor have to buy games) it doesn't surprise me in fact it makes sense that hackers don't share all info(s)

Was the 9.2 kernel exploit disclosed? Not until after someone publicly found it. So yes, it is true. But I won't say much more on this. I don't wanna hype things.

99% of gbatempers answer: yeah, go ahead, only exploit is for 4.5, there is no reason to keep it at 9.2

I'm staying at 9.9 because I really see no benefits in upgrading to 10.1.
I don't buy things on the eShop, I don't play online. It's not a big deal to me.
I'm holding out for an exploit, yeah, but if something were to come out in the future that interests me and required the latest firmware, I would totally update. My motto is to never update unless you really, really need to.

I'm content with keeping my 3DS XL at 9.5 because I have a second 3DS XL to update normally if I need to. And I will wait on that firmware for something substantial that will work on it to pop up.

I heard that 10.0 update changed a large amount of the system menu which is why it was called 10 and not 9.10 with no visible changes

I've been on 9.9 as well. If you're hoping for something kernel related, you must stay on the lowest FW you can. If you're on the latest, avoid updating. Simple as that. Though for RegionFive, it's starting to be more pointless for me to stay on 9.9, but I'm not going to update in case something cool comes up.
