it has as much to do with the size of the computer userbase and ease of development as it has to do with raw power, but all are factors.

Additionally most emulators on handhelds are ports of emulators designed for PC's and not coded from the ground up to take full advantage of the weaker hardware.

The power of the computer is so superior(if up to date) copared to most systems. But that's not the main cause. The computer supports all(?) languages while on a console it's most likely based on a sertain language which can make it unflexible.

Every emulator has its advantages and disadvantages... best advice is to try it out for yourself and decide.

There's four emulators in serious play: DeSmuME, NeonDS, NO$GBA, and iDeaS

Total download size is maybe about 2 MB, just give em all a whirl and see which one works the best. Simple as that.

That's the right idea right there. Get every one. With a core 2 processor, all should work top knotch, but realize that none are "perfect" - as no emulator is perfect. If you have issues, switch to the next one. It also depends on your Graphics Processing Unit (or chip if integrated on the motherboard) - but you should be fine. The GPU doesn't need to be that advanced to run properly.

"why emulator"? As in... why emulators work best on x86? Aside from whether that claim carries any merit or not, that's a weird question, you know...

You also need to post the ram, just posting core 2 duo processor won't really help o.0
