Hacking Why DSTT changes my long NDS roms to 8 characters?

I was making my own skin and taking and inserting microSD like 6 times and then went to NDS folder and saw my Yu-Gi-Oh_World_Championship_2007_USA.nds was changed ito YUGIO~1.nds

why is that?

that also happened to .ARP file of NSMB some another time.

thnx man but why It didnt rename it previous time?
why it didnt rename others that have longer than 8 charactes? all of my games are more than 8 character but this YuGiOh has more than others.

Well, FAT16 doesn't get along with long file names very well - in fact, long file name support in FAT16 amounts to a hack known as vFAT. If you have a whole lot of files (more than 500) on your card, it might have run out of room for long file names. More likely, however, it's due to a corruption in the allocation table. Did you try changing the name back to the original long file name?
