I was looking at buy.com's prices. And they are amazing with Google Checkout. A 1GB Kingston for only $9. [IMG]

    I wanted to buy a 1GB Kingston... Until I saw it's picture.

Should I buy it? I want a good quality one... I always think Quality over Quanity.

Adapter looks fine to me, exact same one I'm using. But you're right that microsd does looks different. the 1GB looks a bit large in terms of font size.

my µSDs (Kingston Taiwan 1GB and Japan 2 GB, bought for cheapness, not for PoR) look different, but yours nevertheless looks legit.
However I would have imagined Kingston to use a more... unified style.

That looks exactly like a Toshiba microsd, which is what Kingston Japanese cards are rebranded from.

First off, what makes you think it's fake?

Second, what makes any of you think that the image used by the seller's website has anything at all to do with the item they're going to sell you?

About 99% of the product images come from stock photography produced and provided by the manufacturer. With few exceptions, the retailers don't take their own photos of the product. Newegg comes to mind as one that does take their own product photos for their website. Most others do not.

Page 2 of an article on AnandTech "Inside Newegg: They give us a Tour and you a Prize" Read the fourth paragraph... "In the far left corner of the picture above is a station where Newegg will take pictures of any new products coming into their warehouse, which end up being listed along with the product on their website." Newegg is definitely the execption in this regard.

Are you going to sell the SanDisk Ducati edition USB drive? Try using one of these pictures...

SanDisk Extreme® Ducati Edition USB Flash Drive

Oh, and if the product changes in some small way, like the change the typeface printed on the card, or what country of origin it is, do you think they're going to change the photo? Not a chance.

I've got three Kingston cards, all bought from Buy.com. All of them advertized with that same photo you cite. Not one of them matches it exactly.

My point is, literally, don't judge a book by its cover. [IMG]

P.S. - If you've never read that Anandtech article on Newegg, visit the link and read it from the beginning. Very informative and eye-opening.

    Striderx is right.

Have you ever even SEEN a micro sd before? that's how they ALL look (if they're going to work properly). It's a pretty low quality picture, too.

this thread needs to die now. I just don't understand why this question was asked.

YES, I've SEEN a MicroSD before. In fact, I used to own a Kingston 1GB Japan. Which looks nothing like the one shown in the picture. Maybe that's why I asked this question?

Thanks for answering my question, Striderx.

No it's not, I've seen plenty that are shaeped very differently. Most manufacturers looks slightly different.

Although I do agree that it's just a generic pic, and I would email them to ask the country of origin before buying.

That's just the stock image they use. Chances are the card you will get will look different
