Why do I download so slow?

Ok, so I'm downloading Gears of War PC version right now, via a torrent.
The torrent is just out, and there are over 100 seeders, and more then 6000 peers.
But my average download speed is around 6kb/s...
Cmon, this is just too slow, even for my crappy connection.
I usually get 400kb/s for a Rapidshare link, and 50-100 for a torrent. But since this one is so popular, shouldnt it be downloading at 200 kb/s?

Any explanation, and maybe a hint?

Ive done this before, and even when there are more peers and less seeders, I still get better speeds...

The speed of a torrent is affected by the share ratio, 100/6000 is horrible. Right now, I still can't get GITS 2ng GIG to finish, it sometimes will be 180kb and other times 11kb, so frustrating.

When I was downloading a 6.5GB file it constantly shifted from 350kbps to as low as 2.4kbps it's frustrating but hey that's torrents for ya. As long as you get what you want for free.

It depends on the people who are seeding. If they have good up-speeds, you will get good down-speed from them.

Only if you want to continue using it, and you sure will want to continue when you notice how fast it is. It is cheap anyways if u
you want to continue.

This is my time geting a torrent that is 8.7 gb, My previous maxes have been in the 4 gb's, so this is going to be intersting, come on computer don't die on me now

Peace of mind.. no IP broadcast.. Long retention.. don't have to rely on seeders.. fast downloads.. Logically compartmentalized.
Torrents are useful from time to time, but the money I pay for usenet is WELL worth it. ABSOLUTELY wouldn't give it up unless I had to.
The "it's free, so it's better" argument doesn't hold up well here. I mean, you can pay money for a hamburger, or you can go out behind McDonalds, root through the dumpster, and find FREE FOOD!

Usenet is just wonderful, i used UseNeXT's 14 day trial and purchased it the next day the trial ran out.

You can still pay via internet if you have a bank account. I'm 16 and i purchased usenet on www.Usenet-News.net with moneybookers and my bank account.

Anyway, I'm getting it off of usenet right now. I realised how awesome my free ISP usenet is, turns out I have no bandwidth limits. Hell I'd pay more for the usenet alone than what I'm paying for internet right now if I had to buy usenet alone.

Good point. If only I had a credit card haha. I'm only 14 so I'm too young.
