Why did you choose to hack your Wii, or flash/buy a flash cart for your DS?
I hacked my Wii for unofficial wads, but discovered more along the way.

I was on kotaku one day and they had an article about playing DVDs on the wii.
When i saw "The homebrew channel" in the video i went like "Whats that?" So i searched up and i was like "COOL!!! =D" so i got it in Oct 08 and i have never had any bordem with it what so ever.

    Wii

I found hbc on youtube had it for a month and the got rid of it because i was so stressed about the possability of bricking even though what i was doing was perfectly non brick making. Then i found bannerbomb and came back to Wii hacking.

    DS

I was at walmart one day and i was looking at the ds acsessories and found Games N Music ( a rip off but the only offline flashcard in non ghetto ( flea markets ect, ) places ) i bought it and i was happy but then i found out you could play ds roms and i was pretty amazed so( i was a baby in the ds homebrew scene ) a few months later i got an r4.

Wii: Back-ups and AC:CF hacking (Also some emulators/media)

DS (When I had my Lite): Mainly ROMs, but I used a lot of homebrew apps and emulators as well.

To play backups of games that I own. I have two Wii's so it was annoying to try and find at which Wii I left the disc at, so now I have two sets of the same games so that I can find them easily.

Since I don't have a job, I'd rather have a flash cart that costs as much as one average game whilst having any games that I want.

    Don't have a Wii.....

I bought a DS flashcart simply to play games for free. [IMG] Homebrew is just a bonus.

I hacked my wii so I could rent, then rip, then burn.
My dl speed was slow so I didn't try downloading them.
My dl speed is still slow so I probably won't screw with it unless it's heavily scrubbed like wii music was.
If you think about it, on the wii side of things, I'm actually helping nintendo.

People like Bushing are ridiculous. He actually thinks people would risk breaking their console for playing homebrew only [IMG]
Of course, it's a safe procedure but piracy makes it a lot more appealing. [IMG]

For the ds though I generally go ape shit downloading so many good games and never having time to play them because I get side tracked. But I still think it's cool that there are so many rare xxxx releases. Even if many of them don't even start [IMG]

I originally did it to get homebrew apps. (I had a v1 DS and was lucky enough to have an RaLink WiFi card so I did the WiFiMe exploit to boot to my GBAMP) But later I moved on to DS and GBA piracy with an M3 Perfect SD.

You should have split the Wii/DS questions up as now you can only answer one.

do you expect filipinos to buy genuine despite them being poor? like most filipinos, some will still hook up on genuine ones but mostly, they want to be "in" and play the games rich people play. Im talking about the poor people and not people who buys genuine.

that's a reason i see when buying flashcard or modding their system. TO GO PIRATE and play whatever they want to be "in"

other times, they want to have independent apps to play with.

I go to the middle class and buy something i can afford or had saved at.

Other times, like me, have to test soemthing before purchasing as they're no return policy or warranties in my country. if only i was in canada or the USA then I can safely buy anything I want (as long as i have the money)

I didn't split it up because I thought people would choose by preference choosing the one they use most.

I bought a flash cartridge for my DS so I could play with all the Pokemon cheats.
