The title is quite self-explanatory - during the Wii U era, Nintendo used to have sites like supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net, splatoon.nintendo.net or miiverse.nintendo.net to access their respective services through any web browser.
But then suddenly Nintendo stopped doing the services like this and instead started making wrapper apps that are essentially just web browsers locked to opening their websites.
Like, the NSO app's SplatNet3 just opens https://api.lp1.av5ja.srv.nintendo.net - this website is also accessible through a normal web browser if you do the cookie hack.
Why does Nintendo do this approach now? What happened to making their websites accessible everywhere?
