i just got my g6 and it works perfectly. i already deteted the pdas, shell and other files. there are some im not sure about deleting: keep in mind i only plan to use it for nds games. things i think i will need backing folder, nds folder, g6 loader, g6 vertify. theres a file called _boot_MP_v1.3c.gba i dont think i need that because it has gba in it. one more thing, when i delete the gba and then open the udisk manager the folder comes back why does it do that?
someone told me delete everything but the nds folder but im not sure about that....

for some reason, after i put the passcard in and take it out a few times, theres a "extra click" before the real one. is that normal?

you can delete everything but the nds folder
the backing folder contains skins not needed for nds mode.
you can delete the g6 loader and g6 verify too, its only needed for updating, the firmware itself is written in an extra 16mbit area you cant access.

after soft resetting to the menu after playing a game, am i supposed to select one of those options when you press select to secure your saves(which one) i already have multple ingame saves but i have never lost a save yet so that means just soft resetting will keep the saves on?

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
