Yeah, THOSE fucking things, I was almost swarmed one time because I didn't know about them when accidentally getting close to their nest and people had to yell for me to get out of there:rofl2: And sure, you don't have bears or wolves or coyotes, but you have hyenas in the desert, aligators in the lakes, ring octopuses in the seas, black spiders in the homes, kangaroos too (even if some of you crazy people eat them:P) and so on!

There is just one species with relatively small numbers living in the middle north of the desert part of Australia from what I remember (southern Northern Territory). Not anywhere near as many as dingoes and to be honest dingoes are a LOT worse since they have rabies, but still, they do exist.

Ok, I'll admit, if there's one reason that trumps all about going to Australia, it's how seemingly every day someone is having a barbeque, stayed there for ~95 days, went on 78 barbeque events:rofl2:

If I could freely choose to live in another place I'd be New Zealand, Wellington or in the Adirondacks, at Saranac lake.

I hate Germany, this place stinks, there's no nature left here at all. Every free space has to be plastered with buildings, the weather is always awful and it is full of hypocrites. I hate the stupid US fighter planes that fly in circles for hours over our house every day. I also hate wind farms, I wish I'd never have to see one of these things again. They should never have allowed to ruin what little forest we had left for wind energy.

Ah, sorry for being so aggressive. But I'm really not happy anymore where I live. New Zealand I know from a friend who showed me pictures of his hometown, it is a wonderful and quite diverse place with several different climate zones on a single island. I've been at Saranac myself for a while, the loveliest place I've seen in my life. Good memories.

Australia is a wonderful Country and NOT everything will kill you as this story proves.:P

Australian crawled through wilderness for two days with broken legs

Actually, Neil Parker only wanted to hike for three hours - the result was a two-day odyssey that the Australian only survived with good luck. The experienced bushwalker set off for the tour in Queensland, Australia on Sunday - and shortly thereafter crashed a six-foot-high waterfall, local media reported today.
    Leg splinted with trekking poles

The 54-year-old injured considerably - with broken leg and wrist he crawled through the wilderness for two days. He made his leg with trekking poles.

He had to lift his injured leg and climb, he told the Australian news agency AAP. Finally, he managed to reach a clearing in Cabbage Tree Creek on Mount Nebo, northwest of Brisbane, as the station ABC reported. "I thought if anyone raised the alarm, I have to climb back out of the rocks to get out of there," he said.

He was then rescued by the clearing yesterday - and taken by helicopter to a hospital. His survival he attributed to his preparation, his family and a walking group, which had been looking for him.
