Why are there so many ads suddenly?

When I was reading a topic I just notice that suddenly there were ads between posts, it wasn't there before or did I just not notice them before?

AFAIK there's a "Remove ads" link - you can opt out.

They help maintain server costs or some shiz. So you leaving them on, helps GBATemp.
You can disable them if you want though.

I honestly never noticed the ads before. I don't mind them at all, since they power up the site...

The ads help fund the server and what not.

Click on the "remove Ads" link on the top left of an ad if you want them gone.

Like Bob said, it keeps the cost of the server down.

Originally we held a firm stance that the temp should be ad free for members. But after a discussion held here in site discussion (which was not initiated by staff) pretty much every member said they wouldn't mind if ads were visible to them too if it would help us out more. This was after the demise of shoptemp V1 when funding for the site was precarious.

However if anyone finds the adverts obtrusive there is a button for you to disable them, as others have said already.
