Why are hackers against piracy? Simple, because there are freeloading people who constantly want more....FOR FREE. Its never enough. Why should they keep working and gain nothing from it, constantly getting slammed with "fix this, fix that".

And Homebrew is different how?

Although this is indeed a valid reason. I do coding as a job and it fucking sucks when a client just randomly decides that he wants X feature without paying for its implementation.

Hope you use the same logic with any free software. If you use any emulators for example, you stand on dead even ground as any of the pirates you're rallying against (probably even worse using your argument, as enabling piracy for current stuff is usually a one time deal while emulators usually require a pretty significant amount of effort before they're to the level everyone expects them to be).

I lovve the classic GBAtemp agggro responses to off the cuff statements. Is there even a problem, if he's not pissed then it's fine.

Buuut, he left a 2 word post on the sig patch thread that sounded way sarcastic. Two people around here said they've been in contact with him and he's pissed (nothing official though).
You know you watch too much Internet porn when your keys stick.

I sure as fuck don't complain about what is readily available. I sure as fuck understand that if Nintendo did find a way to block sky3ds/GW for good than hey it was a damn good run. I still sit here waiting patiently for more emulators to be developed for the 3ds. I have other things to prioritize than to worry about certain 3ds developers who are against piracy, its there choice to do so. Why are there freeloading members getting that panties in a bunch, bitching little baby girls, about someone's decision is pretty much rediculous. You're mad? Go learn like they did and make it happen, free for the world, and stop worrying about them.

It was the same for ps3, everything was fine, everybody was happy. Then BAM firmware update blocked everything, and made it a living hell. I sat there and said the same damn thing, it was a good run. What did others do? "They need to fix this, blah blah blah support because I paid for it." "I've been uploading ird files, now they need to assist us." "I got customers". LOL.........right....

If that's the reason the 3DS hacking scene is so opposed to sharing ROM loaders with the public, then why did they repudiate and ban Pasta developers? The ones who would get bitched at by people demanding more are the Pasta developers themselves, not the other hackers who have nothing to do with it, so why does it matter to them?

They don't want their names stained by assisting in a movement towards piracy on 3DS. That is why they are banned.

Not even the Wii U hackers are against piracy (or at least not open about not liking piracy). People ask questions about piracy and the main devs @Marionumber1 @NWPlayer123 and @Hykem answer those questions without saying a remark about piracy.
They have no intention of enabling piracy, and they don't give a fuck about who is going to enable it. That wouldn't be them for sure.
I'm sure they are against.

Hackers that arent against piracy is a myth. They have to pretend to be against it since they are the ones making these exploits and hacks, so they have to pretend to be against it.

Not sure if you're trying to refer to me specifically or not, but I know enough to be dangerous personally. Just don't care to dedicate my free time to coding stuff and reverse engineering stuff for the 3ds, as I do enough programming during the day - the last thing I want to do is come home and program more and/or poke around at hardware looking for security holes. I've personally got quite a bit of respect for the people in the scene, and realize how shitty it is to be sitting on the other end of the "when can we expect x new feature to be done" discussion, because I know sometimes it's not an easy question to answer - and that's when you're actually being paid, probably even worse when you're doing it in your own spare time.

It is actually worst when you're paid. Upper management wants updates every other day, your manager beating down on you to get it down because execs beating down on your manager. Coding as a hobby is fine but if someone doesn't want to help the community to have full access, aka piracy, than you can't hold that against them. They have there own reasons.

Now if someone were to code emulators, thats fine and dandy heck almost every system is capable of having emulators ran.

I don't believe people that claim to be in favor of homebrew but pretend to be against piracy. If you open the door for homebrew then you're opening the door for piracy, regardless of the impact that it makes, i.e playing 3DS games vs retro games via emulation. Even without loading ROMs and just making homebrew, there are still ways to make yourself a pirate. I see the situation as people wanting to be grey instead of being black or white. They want to be in the homebrew scene, but they don't want to publicly be associated with the "dirty" stuff.

yep big difference is that if your doing something as a hobby you can simply say "why the f**k are these guys hating on me so much when they haven't given me anything at all for all this work and still think they have the right to breath down my neck".....and then it happens , they realize the difference between working and having your boss breathing down your neck and doing something free and having a bunch of scrubs breathing down your neck.....you can tell them all to go FU** themselves and you get to tease them with what you have that they cant have, and take 2 months sabbaticals at the drop of a hat, you can even turn around and say ....nah im bored cya

i imagine all those extra options help alleviate the stress of people hounding you to do stuff :)

tbh i guess all the hounding is what makes alot of dev's turn into full on di*k mode, i know if i was doing something for free and had people complaining its not good enough i would probably turn into a dick towards them all.......if you don't want to be treated like a dick, dont act like one, and that goes for both sides of the argument :P

I guess that really depends on where you work. Where I work personally isn't too bad in this regard, but I can certainly relate.

I usually am pleased, actually always pleased, when someone releases there work in the wild. If they want to share its awesome. Its not in me to be so damn demanding. That is what I've learned when I first got into this type of scene, backups, card rom loaders, ode. They are all remarkable work. Loading 3 to 4 floppy disk just to load one rom, man were those the days.
