I think that it's bullshit, like, the thing is, there's no point in copyrighting material the holders don't do anything with, seeing as no revenue is generated from out-of-print material to defunct companies. There needs to be a serious copyright law revamp, to make it much easier to comprehend and less convoluted.

The odds of you actually being pursued over dead content that no one else managed to snag up is basically none. I agree the copyright laws absolutely need to be rewritten, because as it stands they are currently unfair to both content creators as well as consumers. Really the only people that are benefitting from them are the distributors and their lawyers...

Really late reply into this thread, but my question is why are hackers against piracy, when they pretty much start the possibilities for it on that system. Just DON'T hack if you don't want piracy. Pirate users will just continue from where they left off and make it piracy enabled.
This is coming from someone who doesn't fully understand how the hacking scene's happen, flame me if you will.

I understand your frustration, although I think its good to have a place to actively express your opinions on this topic one way or the other, just would be nice if people would read the thread (ALL of it) before responding, as the bulk of the reasons have already been gone through and argued about.

That's what he said, but he has gone dark after the sig patching.

Okay? He's also gone dark for weeks at a shot prior to that...but I guess that's not important.

Maybe he's dodging Nintendo Lawsuits.....

..... Seriously though if I am him, I would have gone dark as well, to gauge out Nintendo's reaction to this. Even if it's not directly from him (It's a mod.), he's pretty much involved as the basic layer of it came from him. I wouldn't be suprised if Nintendo is having talks with him right now.

You guys are paranoid and greatly overestimate corporate backlash.

Not likely, roxas seems more like the Lamborghini type to me

Problem is that you (and a bunch of other people) are coming to the conclusion that he jumped ship and fled the scene, while 1. he hasn't been gone all that long, and 2. he hasn't come in and posted anything yet stating that's actually the case. Presuming things that may not in fact be true, and stating them as given facts is in fact something that I've got a problem with.

I lovve the classic GBAtemp agggro responses to off the cuff statements. Is there even a problem, if he's not pissed then it's fine.

Buuut, he left a 2 word post on the sig patch thread that sounded way sarcastic. Two people around here said they've been in contact with him and he's pissed (nothing official though).

Why are hackers against piracy? Simple, because there are freeloading people who constantly want more....FOR FREE. Its never enough. Why should they keep working and gain nothing from it, constantly getting slammed with "fix this, fix that".
