no spoilers for zenoblade 1 please!

why does xenoblade chronicles 2 not take place on the bionis/mechonis or the remains on that from the first game? isn't it supposed to be a sequel?

I like the story by the looks of the trailer but, why not take place on a higher res of the remains of the bionis and mechonis from the first game? why doesn't it take place of shulks inheritance of the monado? is there even a monado in xenoblade 2?

The ending of Xenoblade 1 is the only way you'd understand. There's a specific reason why it's not on the titans, but I don't know enough about Xenoblade 2 to give any other explanations. X itself is a different line, that only gives reference to the other Xenoblade. Eventually, we'll probably see an X2 continuing on that story line.

So if you don't want spoilers, what would you like the discussion to be limited to? How much have you played of each of them?

I played up to the nopon village and I'm currently on my way to kill the mommy telethia
I would recommend against pursuing this subject at this juncture, then. There's still so much for you to learn about the world of Xenoblade 1 before you start pondering over the world of Xenoblade 2. And with how interwoven the story is to the world, it's really hard for me to say anything without some kind of spoiler.

There's no way to explain it without spoiling it, one thing i can say is that x is not part of the main story.

xeno 1 and 2 happen at the same time because of multiverses, since theer are 2 Claus/Zanza's and the possibility of Alvis being the third aegis since he is the Monado

Because Monolith Soft does not have the resources nor talent to build a world that's interesting and has its own identity.

The environments in XC1, XCX, and XC2 were impressive, but take a look at the creatures inhabiting them. Half of the monsters are replicas of real-world species (dinosaurs, birds, etc) that are given retarded names in order to generate the illusion that some creative work was done. The rest consists of half-hearted rip-offs of popular fantasy caricatures (dragons, giant insects) and monsters that are original but have shitty designs ("Here's a bunny holding a weapon with its tail. Fuckin great monster!").

Their writers lack the ability to make a story that isn't incoherent nor too long-winded. Tetsuya Takahashi needs to remove himself from the writing process. While some of his ideas are interesting, he clearly doesn't have the artistic sense/direction required for building a quality narrative.

Spoilers below, don't read if you haven't beaten either games:
Klaus, the person who used the conduit to create the universe of Xenoblade, happened to make multiple universes. Klaus was then split into two-- the other half becoming Zanza (The corrupt God of Xenoblade's world). Xenoblade 2 takes place in a universe where Klaus clause remained and spent millennia pondering his sins and his hubris. He creates the world of XC2 in hopes of humans being able to evolve to be better people than the humans of his original world. Since Klaus is split into two, his ties to Zanza in the parallel dimension of XC1 would mean that if Zanza dies, so does Klaus. The ending of Xenoblade 2 results in Rex and his friends defeating Malos and returning to the destruction of Alrest. Shulk kills Zanza, and by proxy Klaus. After this, Shulk makes a new universe free from Gods. We can assume that the "rift" that Rex travels through at the end of Xenoblade 2 is the rift between Alrest and Shulk's new world. If this theory is correct, then Rex and Shulk are now in the same world.

Hopefully Shulk gives Rex some fashion advice

Is the land mass that Rex and the Titans travel to not created from matter gathered and reconstructed by the cloud sea? Rex sais something along the lines of "it was here all along" which I took to mean it was beneath the cloud sea somewhere unreachable until it cleared.

I could be totally wrong but I took the ending to mean it was still Alrest, just rebuilt some way off by the cloud sea, hence the Titans also traveling there, I thought that it was a different world to Shulks which still resides an the other dimension created by Klaus?

The main reason I think that it's Shulk's new world is because Gramps said "We're crossing that rift!" implying that some sort of spacial rift was opened that they were flying to.

Hmm you could be right, I might have to watch XC1 ending again tbh as it's been a few years.

The thing is that a story can be only crowd pleasing if there is such a large audience for it. The die hard fans of older Xenoblade content are maybe not serviced but then again game developers would want to write their games for a bigger audience rather then a declining one.

A good example is World of Warcraft it is the same shit all over again , people into lore love it but the story is really crap to me and it still hooks players because they have a social base that keep drawing in people and they get accustomed to the cycle as well. But nowhere in the cycle of WoW are you having to deal with certain aspects that were important in previous expansions if you are new you can still come and play regardless of what happened in Vanila WoW.

And that is the most popular western MMORPG certainly nowhere near comes Xenoblade Chronicles series...
