An out of topic question, if someone knows, I would really appreciate your response.
So... I just donwloaded a Software Patch. But it's identified by Malwarebytes as: Generic/Malware:Suspicious.

Is this something to be alarmed? Or is just that Malware is kind of detecting that I'm about to pirate software?
Malwarebyte had a bug earlier today that caused a memory leak, but it has been fixed I believe.

Well I had some issues on my gaming pc, but I recond it was because of Malwarebytes. It might be the Spectre and Meltdown patches messing about.

Hold my beer... I have a small list...

I love Windows 10, when it works. That being said I do a lot of emulation stuff with older systems and a variety of emulators (multiples for most systems.) I also have an SSD and 4 hard drives in the same PC. This causes some issues with Windows 10 and permissions (other people have zero issues...) to the point I have turned off most of the better security features in order to get FTP and SMB and normal file permissions on the non SSD drives...

FTP and SMB issues, nothing works the first time for me, I generally have to fight with Windows 10 to make it do any sort of network sharing. Problems I never experienced under XP or Windows 7 or Linux...

On the plus side it does seem to require fewer reboots when it does do updates on me.

Then there is the emulators on C and my files stored on D or F or E... Some emulators under Windows 10 just throw a fit (file access permissions) and some work just fine, I don't know what the issue is there and for some of them even turning off all access controls doesn't fix it. (just turning my hard drives into "dumb" drives that let anyone or anything access them.)

I am sure there are solutions to some of these issues and some of them have been fixed over time with the updates but I have just grown to dislike Windows 10 almost enough to switch to Linux (if I had equivalent tools in Linux to the ones I use in Windows...)

Edit: I am on Windows 10 Pro on this machine, and I will also say this, my machine seems to be a lot better behaved since I switched my AV to Sophos Home edition (it's free) I enjoy it doesn't have a shit ton of pop ups trying to tell me to buy it. And it has managed to block a few threats.

A few? That doesn't sound good.

I have my Windows 10 configured so it doesn't automatically look for updates and also if there are updates it's not allowed to restart unless I chose too. I had to set that with regedit.

That way when you finally feel like looking for an update any issues has already been taken care of (hopefully), I actually have had no problems like that even before I did this I just hated when the machine rebooted because of some useless update (I know you can set active hours, but still, such unnecessary behavior).

I've tried that too, but somehow Windows manages to set it back to default. (automatic updates, automatic downloads)

Alright, so an eternity later, I got all the most recent updates installed.
Verdict: Minor issues I got rid in a few minutes.

- Touchpad being unresponsive: Reinstalling the driver fixed it
- Aero glass being gone: Reinstalling Glass8 fixed it
- Wallpaper Engine being disabled: Manually running it fixed it

Overall, nothing really broke, just some minor annoyances. :)

I'd love to install Windows 10 as a dual boot setup, unfortunately, I either have to try my Windows 7 key, or *shudder* buy one from MS themselves. The only way to get it for "free" would require me to do a clean install, and I absolutely refuse to do that. I'm hearing using the 7 key works with installing 10, but I haven't found much info.

I believe you can use a windows 7 or 8.1x key to upgrade to 10.

But is that only when upgrading the OS, or when you install the OS to another partition on another HDD? It's the latter option that I want to do, as I really don't want to clean install and wipe the primary HDD.

I thought that only was a temporary solution and worked in 180 day increments? That sounds like a PITA to be honest. IDK. I appreciate the suggestion, don't get me wrong, but knowing it's running the background...hmm.

Yeah, I installed the insiders preview and it stopped staying asleep, which sucks for a loud PC with a fuckton of LEDs that's right next to my bed. Eventually I found a whole bunch of settings to fiddle with (even enabling eco mode in the BIOS) and that finally sticks.

That being said I'm happy with Windows 10, just I really wish they would make proper sleep mode a priority.

after you run the program a service called service_kms will run in the background (useless you stop it manually) will always keep you activated, will always run after restarts and such, uses about 10MB of ram
its a set and forget type of deal

Wow, I actually didn't know that, and even though MSE initially flagged it as "malicious" but it's a false positive. Not sure when I'm going to install it, I'm more worried about the programs I installed on 7 working well in 10.

My win 10 install randomly won't play audio through my speakers anymore. Updated the sound device drivers and that worked for a few minutes then it was back to being silent again. And for some reason Malwarebytes install got corrupted, tried to reinstall and it gives me errors every time. I tried different releases and same outcome.

I've repaired the installation via boot able USB and still nothing. My dual boot of a custom windows 10 works fine no problem. But this stock install gives me nothing but problems. Probably gonna have to do a fresh install but I got tons of Torrents and nzbs in my download managers that I don't want to lose or redo. And reinstalling all my apps and games on top of that.

And I'm running a 16 core threadripper build but yet it still runs slowish. Tried installing win 7 but I can't get it to install. 10 really blows

I have the audio device issue too. It won't play through my audio-cable-connected speakers. When that happens, I have to use my wireless headphones (which need to be charged, so sometimes I have to use them while the battery is nearly empty.
