Hacking White screens of death

So I found my Nintendo DS Lite just now after maybe 4 years of not playing it and I realised I still had my R4 cartridge. When I opened it up, all it just said was "loading". This made me venture in different ways to fix my R4. I've tried Wood and YSMENU and they've worked, it's just that when I try to load a game (such as Pokemon Platinum) I just get a double white screen. I'm pretty sure I've downloaded all the most recent kernals for Wood and YSMENU but the game doesn't work on either interfaces. What could be the problem?

    @Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.

    Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

    @Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

    Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
