Considering the first step is naming Link, and the default name is Link - I can't believe anyone could go more than 3 minutes without realizing the protagonist's name is Link.

First game that I played was Zelda 1, first game that I beat was Ocarina of Time.

Actually, I think Twilight Princess was thye very fiorst game with Link as default name, other were empty at first when you had to choose a name

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

also, what confused me with the name was that few game had event unlocked when you name link Zelda

You are right, there was no default name until twilight princess - I was wrong.

However in a few games there are some hints. The zelda 1 opening crawl mentions Link by name. Zelda 2 is literally named "The adventure of Link" (Also applies to Link's awakening), Zelda a link to the past begins with Zelda (mentioned by name) asking the player for help.

If you started with Ocarina of time, Zelda doesn't show up until after you've beaten the deku tree (she has an appearance in Link's dream at the very beginning, but isn't named), so I could see someone being confused for like 40 minutes. In Majora's mask Zelda appears when you get your ocarina back for the first time, so about 40 minutes of possible confusion there as well.

I think the greatest possibility of confusion comes from the Oracle games - because Zelda is rarely mentioned outside of a linked game.

lol, actually, I first started with link's awakening, and still named him Zelda, even my older cousin, who introduced me to that game world, though his name was Zelda before I told him.
The next game i Played after links awakening was Zelda I and Zelda II, and still there I named him Zelda. The reason is because you unlocks event in two ofd these gaqme if you name him Zelda

Ocarina of Time on N64, was 12-13 (received it for good report card in year 6)
Then I rented Majora's Mask from the video store and hated it
Then I bought a Gameboy Color when the GBA came out and some kid was selling his GBC. It came with Link's Awakening. Loved it. Was about 15 or 16 then
Then Windwaker was announced and I was already disappointed with Majora's Mask and thought this cartoon thing was ridiculous so I gave up on Zelda and got a PS2 the next Christmas and never touched Nintendo again until two or three years ago when I heard about OoT 3D and decided to give the 3DS a go. Loved it, then later tried Windwaker and loved it, and also got MM when it came out on 3DS and loved that too.

First i played was Majora's Mask, but i didn't even knew what the hell was doing in the game (to young to understand i think).
Then, emulators came by, and that send me directly to OoT, OoS, MM (again), ALTtP and so... First bought and played in a real console was Minish Cap xD

Link is Link, Zelda is Zelda, never mistaken them.

Majoras Mask was my first.. But my first one BEAT was Wind Waker
My Uncle let me play his gamecube a lot, and he had the collectors disc with OoT, MM, LoZ1/2 on it. I never was able to find the sword in OoT until he showed me like a year later, but I was pretty bleh at the game. MM Seemed a bit more straightforward, but my brain could not puzzle for its life.. I got through most of the game on that disc though, eventually using AR to get to the moon. Little me was satisfied.
Also, Wind Waker was uber straightforward for me. I had the most difficulty being stealthy at the beginning tbh

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though

@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
