I quite like

and might as well have

This sort of thing is not exactly absent in the older US stuff either

That said all that sort of thing was pretty much skateboarding for me -- the endless smooth marble, 10 stairs and plazas of south California and Barcelona were not even a fantasy in the UK, and prior to the skate park explosion of the mid 2000s transition was something you had to go distance to find, or build yourself.

Also had not seen a Dawon Song section in recent times. He has changed what he done a bit compared to him vs Rodney Mullen days.

Same here; I had to skate loading docks, parking lots, warehouses, tennis courts until a few guys I'd skate with built boxes and a quarter-pipe in a cul de sac, then a few skateparks opened up after they tried to put a ban on skateboarding on sidewalks. Luckily, I moved to the Lower East Side and was able to skate everywhere.

Daewon was able to really progress, but I think Rodney Mullen decided to get into the business of technology design, though he still puts out some great flatland

I'm still waiting for Epicly Later'd to do something on Natas Kaupas. It's a good show and gives you a look at the other side of being a pro skateboarder. I found out Chad Muska pretty much ruined his spine and Bam Margera became an alcoholic, but is trying to get his skate life together.
