Hardware Which one of these two Graphics Cards would you choose and why?

Hello I wanted to upgrade a computer for one of my friends however I am stump on which of these two graphics cards is the best given the price?

And then This One:

I'm guessing all the second does is add coolers, is it really worth it then for the extra $80.00 or can someone recommend a better alternative?

After doing more research I actually thing THIS is the best option. What do you guys think?

EDIT- I have a new problem concerning the MSI 1060's 8-pin Power Connector and how to connect it to my 6-pin power Box Cable, if someone would care to answer it for me.

It depends on how much you care about noise. The second card is going to stay much quieter using a lower fan speed because of how it's engineered. A blower style cooler like the first one is great for small cases with little airflow but it kind of sucks in terms of noise levels

Edit: It should be mentioned that the second one will probably OC higher due to the above factors impacting thermals. And yes, what @Luckkill4u said. If you can, just get a 1060 6GB

The truth is, all of them more or less perform the same, sadly gpu binning hasn't been prevalent in this generation. Expect +-1 or 2% performance difference between the same GPU cards. Temps will be more or less in the same ballpark, and since all are custom cooling solutions, none of them will ever thermal throttle etc.

Now, the GTX1060 6GB and 3GB perform better in DX11 titles, the RX480 shows more promise in the upcoming DX12 and Vulkan titles. It all comes down to you.

I'm thinking of going with the Radeon™ RX 480 since he currently has the Radeon R9 270 and he might be able to crossfire them (need to do more research on it). Either way thanks for all the information it really helped, great video.

Nope can't crossfire. Rx480 is new architecture.

Crap I just read up on this, (also that there are some game in-capabilities) GTX 1070 wins.

DX12's got a little something for that actually. Heard about LDA, MDA modes etc?

Decent GTX1070 are priced north of $400.

Games supported are pretty much only 1 for now I think, but it's a start.

Nope and even after a quick google search and nothing about those modes. I'm 99% sure you can't crossfire a R9/R7 with a RX

Beneath all the SLI and CrossFire X marketing terms, all of them are either MDA or LDA etc.
Now I'm forgetting which is which, but the video should clear it out.
I'm not saying its a 100% usable thing, I'm just saying, it's there. DX12 introduced it, Ashes of the Singularity supports it and hopefully more games in the future will.

All this to say, you don't have to discard your R9 270, OP. Maybe there's some hope for it after all.

I'm just going to go with the GTX 1060 since I don't want to deal with rearranging the tower (which isn't that big) or over using the CPU energy or heat (I found it somewhere with good rebate).

Whatever you do, I'd recommend the double or triple fan partner custom cards. Single fan cards for a GPU like the GP106 are....ehh.

Oh i have actually seen that video before. It's technically not the same as crossfire or SLI and the boost is not nearly the same. I highly doubt many future games will support this either because of stability and optimization. Personally I feel like it's more of a point of concept with hopefully future advances. Maybe if you really like Ashes of the Singularity...

Ok, I have run into a problem. The MSI 1060 has an 8-pin Power Connector, while my Power Box comes with only 2 6-pin Power Cords.
I keep getting this error:"Please Power Down And Connect The PCIe Power Cables(s) For All Graphics Cards_"
Can I use an adapter to connect one of my 6 to the MSI 1060's 8, if so which? (a link would be nice)

There are plenty 6-pin to 8-pin adaptors out there. Google is your friend.

I'd go with the 1060 6GB version, don't even waste your time with the 3GB version. Any cards under 4GB seem to tank during current benchmarks.
