I just bought a ds phat from someone online for 60 dollars.

Which flash cart is the best to use for ds phat?

Is it AKAIO or r4 and 3in1 ?

Your are not in the right section of the forum. This is the GBA section. You should post in the NDS section.

Anyway, run far away of anything that has "R4" in its name. It is very outdated and unsupported, and you have 99.9% of chances to get a fake.

AKAIO is not a flash cart, but an alternative firmware (the best, by the way), for the Acekard 2. The Acekard 2, in my opinion, is the flash cart you should get.

You will need the 3-in-1 only to run GBA games. AKAIO supports it, but I think the 3-in-1 exists only for the DS Lite, so check carefully before buying it.

    I hope it helps!

    60 USD?
    that is alot of money

anyway.. don't get anything which is associate with r4!
    they are DEAD

with 60 USD you can get the most expensive flash cart
such as cyclo (is a decent cart pack with features)

other middle range cart with features
    m3
    supercard

and lower range cart without features
    acekard2

personally i would recommend you get ak2 + akaio (custom firmware) it is wonderful

by the way, you posted on a wrong forum

It would be OK for a NDS Lite, I think, but not for a NDS Phat.

    Exactly

Anyway it doesn't matter, as for flashcards STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING THAT HAS R4, it's outdated, and the market is just filled with fakes of that thing. If you want the best features its the Cyclo DS, but that will come at a hefty price. Your best bet is the Acekard 2.1 you can read the review for both of those cards here http://gbatemp.net/index.php?dynamic=8

I would recommend the CycloDS Evolution for this.
It's build quality is amazing, I never had any problems with it.
The Real Time Save works brilliantly, the menu's are quick and responsive, the support is very good.
It can play multimedia files with Moonshell perfectly, has cheat support, responsive menu's, ....
It's well worth the extra money if you ask me.

You can buy it from here for example:

    http://www.nxpgame.com/cyclods-evolution.html

That's a great webshop, with great support and I've heard nothing but good things about it.

M3 Real, CycloDS, SuperCard (SCDS1), AceKard (did I leave any significant ones out?).....any of those carts will suit your purpose for playing ROMs and homebrew. They are well supported by their respective teams.

As everyone has said, avoid R4. The REAL R4 isn't even made anymore, and there are a lot of clones using the R4 name to rip people off to varying degrees. Just forget you ever heard about the R4 and choose one of the recommended cards that best suits your budget and/or preferences.

Reviews for the various flashcarts are available directly from GBAtemp's Portal, in a left-hand sidebar. Read the reviews, find the carts you are considering, read through the forum for those carts here on GBAtemp and investigate your options before buying anything. You only have to buy a flashcart once, might as well get a good one.

Here's a quick link to the flashcart review section:

    Hope that helps you. [IMG]

Just wanted to point out that this is not true, there are phat-sized versions of the EZ Flash 3-in-1, although they cost slightly more than the lite version and are a bit harder to find.

But I would definitely reccomend the AK2.1 running with AKAIO. I use it on my phat every day and never run into problems, unless they're user errors.
