I myself would prefer to use Linux full-time, but I am by no means a power-user when it comes to Unix, so I find myself leapfrogging back and forth between XP and whatever distro I'm using (Zenwalk atm).

Recently I've been thinking of OSX as definitely being a viable option, especially after seeing the demos of Leo. Unfortunately I don't have the cash right now to afford the proprietary Mac hardware, and LeoX86 is truly a bitch to get working.

Do not use Ubuntu(If you do

). It is a good starting distro to muck around with but I found it was too buggy for my needs(ie Wireless network constantly dropping out)

@Urza UNIX commands are awesome. Renaming something in a terminal is so much faster. I borrowed a excellent book from my library that has showed me lots of handy commands

EDIT- I use openSUSE 10.3 BTW

Linux, Windows and OS X are OS's (Operating Systems)

PC's and Mac's are Hardware.

This poll fails. As I'm sure this will have been stated many times on each page, but Windows, OSX and Linux go on PCs and Macs. So what do I click? Mac on PC? Linux on PC? Windows on PC?

Come on people. It has been stated numerous times now that all of these are OSs running on PCs but although you're right (technically even the C64 is a PC), if it annoys you that much that the OP didn't choose the right word please don't reply or vote.
