I troubleshoot windows every day at my job (internet technical support). I can't deal with seeing or hearing about windows after work, and that's one of many reasons why 3 years ago I switched to Mac. I had no issues with switching to Mac as I am a console exclusive gamer... just my 360 and my DS... it's all I need for games.

It's definitely *capable* of doing it. You can't blame Linux or OSX because Crytek decided not to design their game for multiple platforms.

I'm sure you've heard of id Tech 5...id Software's latest engine in development. It runs on Mac, Linux, Windows, Xbox360 and PlayStation 3...

You know what the biggest difference between these two game engines? Direct3D and OpenGL. With DirectX you are stuck on Windows and Xbox/Xbox360. With OpenGL...Support is everywhere. That's the benefit of open standards

However the merits for each are an entirely different discussion.

The reason fan-people exist is because they broke out of that and found something they believe is better, for whatever reasons they have. This apparently shocked their core beliefs about computers enough to tell others.

On the flipside I don't think their really are any Microsoft fanboys, the ones that appear to exist are just users tired of hearing fanboys from the other side, for whatever reason they have...i.e. being content with what they have.

This is why you can never win at a fight between operating systems. Personal preference reigns supreme.

Have you played the demo? It's so friggen cool and looks amazing aswell. This game is probably going to be the first PC game I'm actually going to buy instead of pirating it.

Well PCs have the best overall compatibility as far as software and games goes.
Macs are great when it comes to anything visual like editing movies, photos and such.
Linux...well haven't been able to run on like I want to because I have no programming skills so far, although the last time I tried is like 4 or 5 years ago.

Anyway, each has their own strengths and weaknesses and Linux is not hard- but software.

It should be Windows not PC. All of which run on PCs, they all can run on Intel processors. Mac is an OS system that runs on PC hardware, Windows runs on PC hardware, and so does Linux.

I prefer Windows. However, I recommend Macs, especially to people I don't want to see again and again because they are stupid and decided to look at a pr0n site and get their Windows PC infested with viruses.

Linux is nice, but it's not user friendly. Ubuntu is the closes to user friendly I've seen and even then if something doesn't work you're pretty much screwed if you're an average user.

The problem I have with the stupid Mac ads is that they try to lump PCs with Windows, but they themselves failed at challenging the PC with their stupid PPC processor and is now basically a glorified PC.

Yeah, you should take them with a grain of salt. I like the Novell Linux ads where the Mac and PC are guys and Linux is a girl, though.

I just read a really good (objective) comparison between Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and Windows Vista in a german IT mag and the conclusion was that it's really up to what the user prefers. There is no such thing as a perfect OS but they all come pretty close nowadays in my opinion. The only thing why I can't get into Linux is because if an error pops up I don't know how to fix it. But then again, it's only a matter of habit I guess.

ok to end this thread the OP asked "Which computer do you like" then listed pc, mac, and linux as options. linux was a mistake because that's an operating system. now to the other two PC and MAC. Comparing the two MAC uses an intel chipset with mediocre hardware and sells it for a significantly higher price then if you were to buy or build the same system hardware wise elsewhere. so in other words you'd have to be pretty ignorant to buy a mac over a pc for the hardware.

I'm a PC man, myself. Mac and Linux are extremely strong OSs, but when it comes down to it they just don't have the compatibility I look for in an OS. They may be more secure, and work with less issues, but most software developers just don't design with compatibility for them in mind (to the best of my knowledge).

PC's are cheaper

that's the main reason. Also a bigger software and games library. I find them easy to use, lots of options and customization.

I'd choose to use a mac over a PC for music production and that kind of thing.
