Hardware Where's the cheapest place to buy a 500gb/1tb external harddrive?

I bought a Hitachi 500gb off of Tigerdirect for 40$ (free shipping) about a month ago. Check Newegg too. The key is just to look around. I think Newegg is having a sale this weekend, actually.

You could try your local PAWN shop, Amazon, Creg's List, or E-Bay. You could also look for refurbished models.

I won't tell you where to get the cheapest drive. However, I want to recommend overthinking your priorities - since the HDD stores all your data, simply picking a cheap one may result in you losing your data.
