Hacking Where to start with a launch PS3 on firmware v2.76

I have an original phat PS3 that's been sitting in a box for years. It's running v2.76 and still has the Install other OS option and all.

All the guides I see talk about v3.x and v4.x, but where do I start with this dinosaur?

Update to 3.55 then install latest rebug on it, install webman on top of that and enjoy.

you can install the latest cfw straight from 2.76. then, qa flag in case you ever want to downgrade.

Whats the best guide to follow for that then? I'm well-versed in Switch stuff, and PS3 I'm so far out of it. I've found many guides for PS3 and lots of big red text do not install if you are not on X version. Just don't want to make the wrong decision.
