Hi,

Any recommendation where/how to buy Monster Hunter 3G? And my 3DS is the new colour midnight purple, can it play Japanese games?

Thanks

From what I know midnight purple is only available in the USA and thus it is region lock to USA which means you can't play MH3G since the game itself is region lock to Japan.
I guess you will have to buy a JPN 3DS if you really want to play MH3G :) or any other JPN 3DS Games.

To check your region:
Go to Settings -> check bottom right on Upper Screen

If its:
E - Europe/Australia
U - America
J - Japan

Also, midnight purple isn't released in Japan yet. So... Boo hoo.

Because the 3DS is region locked, you cannot play MH3G on it unless it comes out for your region.
From Capcom's words, it does seem likely that 3G will get localized, so you might need to wait.

You from Singapore? Haha. I'm from Singapore too actually.
Funzsquare is your best shot for JP imports in Singapore.
If you can't wait, you can trade in your US one. Of course you have to top up and warranty will be compromised.

EDIT: Singapore's official region for the 3DS is U (America).

eBay is your best bet.

But since you're a Singaporean, I recommend Funz Centre at AMK Hub. If they don't carry it, you could make a request.

How much is Funz Centre selling?

Currently FSq has no stocks for MH3G. :(

"My 3DS is purple, can I play games from the other side of the world?"
I lol'd

Why lol? I took this pretty offensive. Can't you see other people can base on that information and actually gave me good advice? I know it sounds noob, but anyone can be a noob in a certain area. I can lol at you for many other things, how about that?

And big thanks to others for positive good advises. Cheers :)

Chill pal. What he is saying is that you cannot base a region by its color (in a very informal way).

You need to check it via the settings.

EDIT: sorry for double post, I thought it'll auto-merge.

So what do you intend to do? Sell away your US 3DS and import a JPN 3DS?
For me, I initially also bought a US 3DS at launch for 399SGD for the sake of playing One Piece Unlimited Cruise SP and then I realize they have absolutely no intention of bringing that game to the US so I decided to get a JPN set! :) And I believe I did the right choice as I am spending much more time on my JPN set than my US set :)
You should definitely get MH3G! That game is pure awesomeness! Currently clocked over 600 hours on it! :P

I'm personally worried that MH3G when localized will have online combat.

I'll cry if true (and if I sold my US 3DS).

But I'm preparing to sell anyways :P

I seriously doubt that they will add online to MH3G...

Hmm...how about MH4? I am pretty sure MH4 localization will take as long as MH3G localization! That is assuming capcom will bring MH4 to the west! LOL! Do you really want to make yourself suffer the whole localization nightmare again? :P

Let's be honest here: this is the only reason why I'm keeping my US 3DS.

You're right. Once I get my "salary" for this month I'll sell it ASAP before I leave.

Try not to take online comments too seriously, there are plenty of jerks as there are good people.
Every time I read an offensive post directed towards me, I always find it helpful to ask myself: Am I really going to let this random stranger over the Internet make me feel bad? LOL FUCK NO

Works every time :D

No idea how much Funz carries to for though. You might want to check it out over the weekend

It's not impossible. From what I understand, the online component of Monster Hunter Tri (Wii) was pay-to-play in Japan, but Capcom USA removed the monthly fee, making the game free-to-play online. In the US, online play is considered to be much more necessary for a game than in Japan, as I understand it. If (and that's a big IF, there, boys) this game gets localized, Capcom may well add Wifi play to the game to boost sales.
