Wading through fake 2200mAh batteries the occasional genuine one is either sold out or won't ship to Europe (I live in the Netherlands). Does anyone know where I can get one cheap and ships to .nl? I don't really need the repackaged one from the end of 2007 that has the extra battery covers, the old, 2005 one is fine.

Any personal help from local Americans/Canadians (where these batteries are sold) is welcome.

Fake ones are pretty easy to spot once you've got some reference images:

Fake:

Genuine:

More pictures, this time taken by me, in this post. The easiest way to tell is the '20% UP' logo left of the battery on the package; when it's there it's fake. The genuine says 'UP TO 20% / JUSQU'À 20%'.

/edit: in the meantime I got my answer: Videogamesplus.ca sells genuine PSP-280 2200mAh batteries.

DO NOT order from Datakits.co.uk, as they sell fakes for the real thing (and price for that matter).

Are the fake ones not rated as advertised? Remember that cells from 2005 will have degraded from the original spec.

Edit: yeah, apparently most fakes fudge the capacity

I really don't trust fake ones after reading lots of comments on fake batteries at DealExtreme. Mostly the advertised capacity is nowhere near it's real capacity.

Is it true that the 2200mAh batteries from 2005 have degraded? Sounds true..

I'm looking for one too for the PSP slim

I'm in UK
I did find a reasonably priced one here that is advertised as genuine (pictures show genuine battery too): http://www.datakits.co.uk/store/sony-psp-s...ack-p-4013.html

But a Google search on 'Datakits experiences' shows me lots of angry customers, so I don't want to take the risk. You can pay with PayPal though, so maybe some kind of dispute/buyer protection thingy may resolve problems in case they arrive.

All Li+ batteries lose capacity over time, the extent depends on the temperature and charge remaining during storage.

That said, it doesn't sound as bad as what some of the fakes are pulling. I saw someone had dissected a fake 3600mAh battery and found a smallish battery with a weight inside! LOL

Lol, yeah, a very funny one is this one for a '4-in-1 12000mAh External Battery for PSP/NDS/NDS Lite/GBA SP':

QUOTEmmasco Sunday, April 27, 2008 7:02 PM

Inside of the case there are two 1000mAh lithium batteries and...

...two 35g pieces of a rusty iron strip sticked by doubleside adhesive tape to batteries... for weight and solidity. ;-D Or it can be new chinese topsecret technology which allows to do of 2000mAh batteries 12000mAh...

It not a joke! Open the case and will see, then can unstick and throw out them - the device
will lose 70 gram of unnecessary weight.

Man, imagine what kind of capacity you could achieve with an even BIGGER piece of iron.

I wish there was a better way to evaluate third party batteries. Seems like you have the choice of being burned by a fake or raped by Sony.

Thanks for this.

I do have PayPal so I went ahead and bought it.
Will make pictures when it arrives and request further details whether its a genuine one or not.

Yeah, you'll need to buy a battery cover so bigger sized batteries like this one can be properly used in a Slim&Lite. DealExtreme.com sells them for about $4 each.

Fission: I still don't dare to try and order from them, they haven't responded to my e-mail asking if it really is genuine for about 2 weeks now, plus there's this shitload of stories I read of ppl who have bad experiences with them..

Please post some feedback if you get it and if it's genuine or not.

Don't hesitate to file a dispute with paypal if you do end up getting a fake.

I've only ever filed a complaint once against a retailer - which was resolved quickly

I'm very into description's and it states An official SONY PSP product

But hopefully you can confim when I get it whether it is or not.

If you get the reply from DealExtreme,
please tell me too.
It is so cheap.
But I don't trust fake ones.

Um, DealExtreme only sells fake batteries and battery covers, I e-mailed Datakits about their battery.

/edit: aw hell, I just ordered one too. It'd be sour to read you've got it, it's genuine and sold out by that time. 20GBP/25EUR is nice, and there's PayPal protection which I hopefully works but won't have to use. I'll post results here when I receive it. Hopefully the battery's been kept in good conditions
