Hacking Where is the line drawn in terms of cheating and online gameplay?

I'm fairly new to the hacking scene for Nintendo Switch. So forgive my perhaps dumb question and/or ignorance on the subject.

I plan to buy a switch, and I want to play the new pokemon game on it - but I also want to use cheats, e.g. guaranteed shinies, exp rates, etc. This is all relatively safe to do whilst offline, I imagine.

However, I know the game has online features, like trading etc. Is it possible to be able to battle/trade online after using such cheats?

I understand that perhaps most folk install their CFW on a separate NAND, right? Is that where game saves will also be stored? If so, is it possible to transfer saves from one to the other safely?

The safest thing is to run CFW on an emummc. You can keep your stock firmware clean and probably not have to worry about it if you block Nintendo addresses while using CFW.

That method does mean you'd have to have two save files of the game though

EDIT: I'm sorry I didn't thoroughly read the end of your post. What you describe is pretty much what I said. AFAIK, you can't transfer saves between different NANDs unless there both hacked.

The line is drawn when doing obvious cheating that upsets the online experience of others like inf HP/PP. In Pokemon its very specific b/c if the said pokemon was caught from an area via cheats where its normally not located it is right off the bat illegal. Thats why I don't even bother with Encounter cheats b/c those pkmn will get rejected from WIFI battles.

As for using saves if you want to cheat in Emunand and use the same save in sysnand (cfw) you'll need to ftp the save for transfer process. Basically you dump the cheated save from emunand using a homebrew called JKSV then ftp it over to your PC. Then switch to sysnand (cfw) and use ftp again to get the save, after that you inject it with JKSV. Once you get a hacked switch you'll have to educate yourself on useful homebrew and also guides to help prevent your switch being banned. But pokemon in terms of save editing has always been fine to do - trading or WIFI battles. Also its best to use pkhex for legal pokemon for battles.

The only line is that hacking is what gets people banned so it doesn't matter what people subjectively perceive as cheating since Nintendo bans anyone they find hacking.
