I'm allergic to insects too.
Whenever an insect walks on me, my skin gets a delightful rash.
No matter if it's a fly, an ant or something else. Not saying that I've got into contact with many insects... just saying that no matter the size the rash always appears.

I'm allergic to silver & platinum

Never met platinum before. Pure platinum wire/metal and not platinum black or anything like that?

Cheap silver plating as seen in cheap jewellery sure that is every day and nothing special. Pure silver rather less so.

The general thing about most of those metals (along with gold) is that they don't react and by extension should not cause any issues. Silver is also noted as being rather germicidal.

Not 100% on the platinum, it was a platinum based make-up in theater class in college. Since I know I'm allergic to silver, and they're next to each other on the periodic table, I was guessing the platinum was the cause.

And silver is not an instant thing, but if I touch it over a period of several hours, my skin will become inflamed and swollen around where the silver's at.
