Anyone from the USA can confirm if they got a 9.4U console?
I am only seen consoles from Canada with that FW.

So did these specific Canadian retailers get stock last or updated the console they had?

Would any canadians that got 9.4 consoles possibly post which store they got theirs at, might help narrow down what is going on.

There are many reports of delayed shipments here in Canada (Amazon not able to fulfill my pre-order until next week). I wouldn't be surprised if suppliers were themselves put in charge of updating firmwares.

A thought occurred to me:

The N3DS turns on with network enabled, and many Best Buys (at least in the US) are Nintendo hotspot locations. In other words, actually opening your N3DS at or near where you bought it from is a pretty terrible idea, as it might connect to the hotspot and download the update automatically. This might explain what we're seeing?

They are on 9.4, not 9.5. They were either made with 9.4 in factory or updated pre-Feb 2nd when 9.5 came out.

Yikes. Maybe post a picture of the FW and redacted receipt so people believe you. I think you would be the first US person to get one or did I miss someone? Still red though.

While I do think it will pre-download the update I don't think it will force an update without user input. I could be wrong but I hope I'm not.

I'm sorry to hear that savvyMatthew, I got my in Mass as well but they were both 9.0 from Bestbuy in Everett. I'm curious what your serial is however, just the first two letters and four numbers if you don't mind.

Can you post the beginning of your serial just so we have an idea when the 9.4 units start? 2 letters and the first 4 numbers

Example: QW4025XXXX-X 9.2U

So far serial numbers QW1000 to 4000 have been confirmed to come with 9.0U.
At least we have a way to look before buying it now.
