Red N3DS XL I bought has 9.4 (I didn't take a screen because I quietly formatted it and resealed it gonna try my luck with another one.

IT IS CONFIRMED THAT SOME N3DS XL US units come with 9.4

well... 5 majoras masks units came all with 9.0E. And one blue n3ds xl also 9.0E.
Bought in Germany ALL

one more on its way. I guess still 9.0E. But I will update this when it arrives either tomorrow or monday.

Could be that they got a newer and bigger supply of the black 3ds recently and are available in the stores. So MAYBE Nintendo shipped them new stock.
Seems all of the BestBuy's only have Black in stock for store pickups.

I cannot tell.
For users of flashcards, their best bet is to go to a GameStop or any other non-big store.
I kinda think that bigger stores had another supply within this year to meet the demand.

Just wanted to chime in here. Went to a midnight launch in Walmart in Starkville, MS and bought the red XL. Was so confident it was 9.0.0U... no... it was 9.4. I was in complete dismay. So unlike Nintendo to update their systems so promptly. Sigh... WELP.

That is disappointing I would have thought Zelda,Monster Hunter and Red units would be safe. And that the Black units would be cranked out by the boat load.
I think walmart get some stuff high demand stuff shipped in by outside carriers.
I seem to recall my Smash Brothers Bundled was UPS-ed to the store for pickup.
