Guess I am in the typical range then although I tend to go for the older bands there or stuff like folk/pagan metal.

I will go for the odd bit of blues/jazz but it has to be really good.

It's been blatantly proven time and time again, most male internet goers have the tendency to prefer a form of rock, metal, or punk (though this genre is less liked, but still like over other genres).

What a load of rubbish. Rap, hip hop, techno, electronic and dance are equally as popular as rock and metal among "typical internet users" (if there is such a thing). There'll be a fair chunk of japanese pop (the anime crowd) and soundtracks too. Want to exclude all those genres as well?

And I'm not just making this up. There was a poll. Several in fact, but I can't be bothered to go find the others.

if it only was this way

very few people are into electronic music, and then again most of them only listen to let's say Prodigy or Daft Punk and consider themselves fans of electronic music

it's also very common that people say they listen to techno without having the slightest clue of what techno is or what the music they listened to is actually called

according to them, electro = house = drum'n'bass = rave/happy hardcore = hardcore = EBM = techno
