Whats wrong with my TV or Wii

Whenever I play wii games for a lot of hours(5+ hours) from my external hard drive my tv makes a noise and go's completely black but has the power light on.
This has only happened once before and I don't know what to do.
Please help me fix this problem.

Well, check your AV cable's connection, maybe it's too loose or something of that kind.

Make sure all connections are dusted off.

Try switching the AV cable with another.

After I turned it off for a few hours it worked, but still how would I fix this problem?
