Im looking at CyberPower, and im filling the form out, trying to see what kind of PC i want and stuff. Then comes "Video Card 2". If i had another Video card on the same computer, what would really be the point?

Better performance is the obvious one.

Also for using more than two monitors, since most video cards only have 2 DVI/VGA outputs.

so you can use the fan of one to circulate the air underneath the other. the vertical air is spread in all directions upon hitting the above videocard, circulating air throughout the whole computer. This is an expensive and ineffective alternative to a fan

No. With 2 GPUs you wouldn't come close to doubling performance. 1.5 times max I'd say.
    It doesn't work that way.

its actually pretty pointless. It's just mainly for lame ppl to increase the size of their e-penis really.

Seems like you're the one trying to increase your e-penis (or keep it from shrinking, rather) [IMG]

    lol. nah.
Pretty much the only game thats that power hungry is prolly Crysis.
Most games dont need thing like SLI. And the difference between high graphics setting and ZOMG-IT-GONNA-BLOW! setting is barely noticeable.
Basically ppl get things like quad SLI or something just to run 3Dmark and post score on the net to show how big their epenis is.

I'll let you in on a little secret, graphics cards have uses outside of gaming.

    WOAH. WHO KNEW.

Watch out... a second card is usually useless. 'Specially if it's a Nvidia, mainly because of shit house drivers which drives the world mad. Don't bother with a second graphics card... save money and electricity. That extra 5fps doesn't matter too much.

I also agree with above unless you are a "pro gamer" (highly doubt)
Or a 3D Modeler/Animator (A Little more likely) Just buy a better processor

And even with my crappy 2GHz Centrino + 256 Ram i can usually keep Max 8 + photoshop open

But Maya on the other hand is power mad with the way they have it set up

^^^ Above took around 40 minutes to render

(Tried to keep It to as many quad's as I could)

If you have the latest games running in high resolutions (ie, 1920x120, 2560x1600) at their highest settings then it would be best to have multiple graphics cards.

With 3 graphics cards you can get up to 2.8 times the power of one card (certain apps and games can this, others go backwards slightly). But you need a high powered PSU, I think triple SLi of the 8800GTX and above needs a 1Kw PSU minimum.

SLI isn't that bad. E.G Two x 9600GT gives amazing performance, for around the same price as a 9800GTX. SLI also means that people who play resolutions like 1920x1200 can max nearly everything they play.
