Yes that's correct, I believe there's also a problem with screen stretching.

You won't get far enough to MCU brick. new2ds gfx module crashes on boot.
This applies to new3ds firm 11.4 and below. The 11.4 that came with launch new2ds had some custom titles.

Have people found development firmwares? Like pre-1.0 factory firmwares? I'd like to test some out on my testing 3DS if possible.
