First go to this website and scroll down. Check out all of the high pitch frequencies to see which ones you can hear. The highest I can go up to (age 14) is 18 kHz. Anything higher and I won't hear it. So how about you?

Also, you shouldn't have to turn up the volume.

EDIT: Found a better site.

I turned 22 up all the way and could hear something faint. Same with 21. I'm 24, used to be able to hear better than this.

this is stupid. my mom is 44 years old and she can hear the 22kHz one. I just asked her. this is dumb because it doesn't work. Everyone can hear those sounds or my mom is some kind of hearing maniac. i think that site is fake or something.

It is all relevant to your sound system. Some speakers cannot handle the higher tones so you dont hear anything or just hear clicks. Some sound cards clip sounds above certain frequencies. LCD built in monitor speakers are reletivly crap, as are laptop speakers.

Also the different encoding systems make the sound different, for instance on my system the I can hear the 21khz MP3 using winamp, but not using media player. Also I cant hear the WAV file using winamp but CAN hear it using media player.

If you use headphones and have noise cancelling turned on you wont hear some of the sounds. With head phones you will also hear more of the sounds.

According to the web site the tones are meant for an iphone, and so will be made to sound best on the crappy iphone built-in speakers.

I can hear all the sounds when transfered to my phone.

I'm 44 BTW.

sorry to break this for you 22khz people, humans can only hear up to 20khz AT BEST. so you must be able to hear a dog whistle. go to your nearest pet shop and try!

the 22K, 21K and 20K didnt really work on my pc, they sounded like a weird beep.
I could barely hear the 19K one and could hear the 18k one very distinctly

If you have to turn the volume up, you're doing it wrong. Normal volume level should be fine, if you can't hear it then you can't hear that frequency.

How do you guys hear such high frequencies? I'm 14, and when I do listen to music it's not loud at all.
